Services for James L. (Jim) Williamson, 82, were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 8, at the Griffin Funeral Home in Ardmore.
Mr. Williamson was born August 4, 1918, in Tioga, Texas, the son of Jim Andy and Mabel Williamson. He died Friday, May 4, 2001, at the Ardmore Veterans Center.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 135th Army AirCorp. Mr. Williamson served as a military policeman until his discharge on August 31, 1945. He and Madeenia Hughes were married in October 1945. They made their home in the Springdale community of Ardmore until her death in March 2000. Mr. Williamson retired from Oklahoma State Parks and Recreation at Lake Murray as a Master carpenter in September 1983, after serving 23 years.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Royce and Mary Thurman and Jimmie and Susan Williamson of Ardmore, and Mickey and Janice Williamson of Seminole; two daughters and sons-in-law, Norma J. and Grant Adams and Susie and Terry Jones of Ardmore; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Williamson was also preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Kathryn Dees.
Pallbearers were his grandchildren, James (Skipper) Williamson, Joey Williamson, Michelle Williamson, Aaron Williamson, Robin Berry, John M. Jones, Kristal Jones and Terry Goodwin. Honorary pallbearers were his many friends at the Ardmore Veterans Center.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta, under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
