Services for Frank H. Townsend, of Dallas, Texas were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Munger Place Methodist Church, Dallas with Brian McPherson officiating.

Mr. Townsend was born September 27, 1903, in a log cabin at Burneyville, Indian Territory (Chickasaw Nation).

He grew up in a farming community and attended Oklahoma A & M before moving to Dallas in 1920. He graduated from Draughon's Business College of Dallas. Mr. Townsend worked for Magnolia Petroleum Co. (Mobil Oil), retiring after 38 years as a senior accountant. He also worked for the Dallas Times Herald for 22 years. He was an active member of Munger Place Methodist Church since the late 1920's, and after retiring from Mobil, he served as the church's business manager for five years. He held numerous leadership positions at Munger Place through the years. He was also active in many clubs and organizations throughout his lifetime.

Survivors include his sister, Maurine Carter; two daughters, Patsy and Lynn; grandchildren, David Teer, Elizabeth Gilmer, Wendy and Anne Rosamond; great-grandchildren, Nic and Jon Teer, Paige Horton and T.J. Gilmer; nieces, Kay King, Jan Doty; nephews, Guy Townsend Jr. and David Doty.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Lucile Eddins Townsend.

Pallbearers were Jon Teer, Nic Teer, T.J. Gilmer, Terry Peake, Michael Trafton and Kent Gilmer. Honorary pallbearers were Phelps Chestnut, Jacob Rocha, Paul Rosamond, Jimmy Cupples, Fred Appleby, and Robert E. Thomas.

Interment was in Restland Memorial Park under the direction of Restland Funeral Home, Dallas.
