Services for Steve Simon, 46, of Lone Grove, were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 3, in the Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta, with the Rev. Doug Simon and the Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating.
Mr. Simon was born November 21, 1955, in Dallas, the son of Doug and Lou Sconce Simon. He died Saturday, August 31, 2002, in Baylor Medical Center, Grapevine, Texas.
A resident of the Lone Grove area since 1985, Mr. Simon had been employed as a service man in the Tire Building Depart-ment at Uniroyal for 28 years. He and Carol Anne Gilbert were married October 28, 1983, in Marietta. Mr. Simon played the drums in the band while in high school and with other local bands. He was a member of Marietta's First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents, Doug and Lou Simon of Marietta; his wife, Carol Anne Simon of the home; a son, Aaron John Simon of Highland Village, Texas; a daughter, Rachel Marie Simon of the home; two brothers and sister-in-law, Doug Simon, Jr. and Barbara Simon of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Larry Simon of Austin, Texas; and a sister, Donna Lou Simon of Austin.
Pallbearers were Mark Simon, Larry Simon, Carl Shipley, Mike Shipley, Kevin Simon and Eric Simon. Honorary pallbearer was Dan Summers.
Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
