Services for Ralph Gerald Sparks were at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Marietta's First Baptist Church. Officiating was Rev. Tommy Higle, pastor.
Born November 6, 1929, at Abilene, Texas, Mr. Sparks died October 5, 1994, in a hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age of 64. He was the son of Dee and Ruby Franklin Sparks.
Mr. Sparks had lived in Marietta since 1977, moving here from Dallas, Texas. He had worked as a union plumber in Dallas for 24 years and was a self-employed plumber since moving to Marietta. Mr. Sparks and the former Nowana Bodiford were married January 25, 1975, at Glen Rose, Texas. He was a member of Marietta's First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nowana Sparks of the home in Marietta; a son, J.R. Sparks, also of Marietta; a daughter, Patricia Symank of Arlington, Texas; three step-sons, Ronnie Joe Stowers, Randal Stowers and Rick Stowers, all of Madill; a step-daughter, Becky Stowers of Midlothian, Texas; a brother, Charles West of Glen Rose; a sister, Ruby Lee Yancy of Walnut Springs, Texas; four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
Services were directed by the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home with interment in Lakeview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill Young, Rick Gregory, Ralph Blalock, Wayne Varner, Aubrey Gregory and Jerry Gregory. Honorary bearers were R.A. Harper and Clyde Brewer.
