Services for Michael Wayne Sampson, 16, were Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Thackerville High School Auditorium with Rev. Casey Campbell officiating.
Born October 4, 1980, at Gainesville, Texas, the son of Marlene Sampson, Michael died February 23, 1997, at Thackerville. He had lived at Thackerville all of his life and was a sophomore at Thackerville High School. Michael attended the New Hope Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his mother, Marlene Sampson of the home at Thackerville; grandmothers, Joyce Teran of Thackerville and Jewell Barnett of Denton, Texas; grandfathers, Sherman Sampson of Thackerville and Oscar Ray Barnett of Gainesville; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Elaine Sampson of Thackerville; three sisters and brother-in-law, Amanda Teran of the home, Diann Hassanshahi and Carolyn and Ronnie Lopez of Thackerville; aunts and uncles, Barbara Baker and Johnny and Mary Forrest of Sanger, Texas, Rayford and Faye Lee of Thackerville and Cricket Barnett of Gainesville; and cousins, Crystal Perkins, Brandon Sampson, Misty Perkins and Tina Spradling.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Charles Ray Barnett, Sr.
Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thackerville, under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Jim Sampson, Ronnie Hilton, Raymond Doughty, Ronnie Lopez, Kenneth Daughty and Vince Allen.
