Edward J. Smithwick

Marietta - Services for Edward J. Smithwick will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 1981, in the First Baptist Church here. Rev. Bob Atterberry will officiate with interment in Lakeview Cemetery.
Born Feb. 14, 1922, in Doerun, Ga., Smithwick died Feb. 24 at his home in Marietta.
Married to Marie Overstreet June 5, 1943, in Marietta, he was a carpenter and had been employed by Marietta Sportswear for the past seven years. During WWII he served with the Army in the Philippines, France and Germany, and he was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by three sons, Charles, Richard and Joe Don.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, James, Marietta; two brothers, A.R., Albany, Ga., Charlie, Webster, Fla.; three sisters, Catherine Owens, Pelham, Ga., Lola Rogers, Sunnyside, N.Y., Josie Pollock, Bainbridge, Ga.,; and two grandchildren.
Bearers will be Alfred Norris, George Heller, Bob Sharp, Roy Porter, Elvin Jackson and Jack Teafatiller.
Goodrich-Anderson Funeral Home will direct services.
