Services for Calvin J. Russell of Dover were Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the Rubottom Baptist Church with Bro. Barry Farnsworth officiating.
Mr. Russell was born at Rubottom on June 16, 1921, the son of John and Prillah Black Russell. He died February 3, 1999, in the Kingfisher Regional Hospital at the age of 77.
Mr. Russell moved to Dover in July 1998, after living in Oklahoma City for 35 years. He married Lola May Thompson on April 20, 1946, in Oklahoma City. Mr. Russell served eight years with the U.S. Army. An aircraft mechanic, he was a veteran of World War II and later served in Vietnam with the U.S. Air Force before his retirement. He was a member of a VFW post in Oklahoma City and the Rubottom Baptist Church. Mr. Russell enjoyed his grandchildren and family.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Cast of Bethel, Alaska; a brother, Bob Russell of Dover; a granddaughter, Kelly Lawson of Anchorage, Alaska; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his wife on April 26, 1997; a brother, Willie Russell in 1998; and two sisters, Lorena Auld on July 3, 1990, and Gertie Davis.
Interment was in the Leon Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers. Arrangements were under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
