Services for Ruth Qualls, 84, of Marietta, were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, in the Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Gardner officiating.
Mrs. Qualls was born March 18, 1916 in Coffeyville, Kansas, the daughter of Fred F. Sr. and Hattie Hankey Burke. She died Wednesday, March 22, 2000 in Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore.
She had lived in Love County the past 35 years and had been employed as a secretary for an oilfield supply company. In recent years she had been a member and held offices in the Rose Garden Club, the Pink Ladies Auxiliary of Mercy Health Love County and also the Women's Missionary Union. Mrs. Qualls was an active member in the First Baptist Church of Marietta and served as pianist for the Senior Adult opening exercises. She enjoyed the Senior Adult Trips sponsored by the church. As a Pink Lady, she took great pride in the hospital Gift Shop which raised funds for the hospital. Mrs. Qualls also had a great love for flowers and life in general.
Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Fred F. Jr. and Lillian Burke of Corpus Christi, Texas; niece, Loretta Jahn of Corpus Christi; two nephews, Robert Burke and Richard Burke, both of Corpus Christi.
Mrs. Qualls was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Qualls, on May 15, 1986.
Bearers were Frank Armstrong, Robert Burke, Bud Barnes, Melvin Mitchell, Richard Burke and Tup Robertson. Honorary bearers were the Pink Ladies Auxiliary members.
Interment was in the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery, Madill, under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children's Home of Madill.
