Services for Opal Ruth Sanders Pearce, 84, of Marietta were Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the First Christian Church with Rev. Jim Enabnit officiating.
Born September 26, 1915, in Western Love County, Mrs. Pearce died November 14, 1999, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta. She was the daughter of N.A. and Flora Leah Carlton Sanders.
A resident of Love County all of her life, she was a salon owner and operator. Mrs. Pearce was a member of the First Christian Church of Marietta where she served as a substitute pianist and organist, sang in the choir and taught in the adults' and children's Sunday School departments for many years. She was also a member of the Christian Women's clubs. Mrs. Pearce was married to Charles S. Pearce for 41 years and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1980. She was also preceded in death by a brother, T.I. Sanders; and two sisters, Sybil Asher and Hazel Duckworth.
Survivors include a daughter, Leah Bond of Metairie, Louisiana; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Gabriele Pearce of Marietta; a sister, Jewell Sanders Williams of Marietta; four grandchildren, Christian Bond and Benson Bond of Metairie, Sheila Brown of McKinney, Texas, and Erin Pearce of Durant; two great-grandchildren, Alexander Brown and Richard Brown of McKinney; and several nieces and nephews.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery directed by Kennedy Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Jackie Drennan, James Howard, Benson Bond, Jerry Cochran, Freeman P. Galt and Christian Bond. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Weldon, George Harkey, R.A. Harper, Claude Brannan, Bill Winblood and Van Burkhart.
The family has requested that donations be made to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund.
