Graveside services for Burl Hesley Phillips, 79, of Oklahoma City, were held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 9, in the Resthaven Cemetery, Oklahoma City.
Mr. Phillips was born February 10, 1923, at Leon, the son of Earl and Della Phillips. He died Tuesday, August 6, 2002, in Oklahoma City.
Having grown up in the Leon community, he met and married his wife, Edna, of 58 years. Mr. Phillips served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Upon his return from war, he moved to Ardmore, where he attended and obtained a degree from the Ardmore School of Business. He then moved to Oklahoma City to pursue a career with Demco Incorporated. Mr. Phillips had retired after 38 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Edna of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Powell of Moore, Janelle and Jack Miller of Oklahoma City, and Gayla and Steve Parrott of Midwest City; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Katie Phillips of Marietta; and six grandchildren, Brian and Ben Powell, Tony Miller, Marnie Wright, Dustin MacDonald and Chelsea Parrott.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Delores Laurence; two brothers, Maurice Phillips and Earl Clifton Phillips; and a son-in-law, Gordon Powell.
Services were under the direction of Baggerly-South Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
