A memorial service for Amse Pel, 73, of Vancouver, Washington, was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Thackerville Church, with Bro. Johnny Reed officiating.
Mr. Pel was born January 8, 1928, at Stroobos, Netherlands, the son of Jan and Annette Bos Pel. He died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta.
Mr. Pel had been a resident of Vancouver for the past 25 years. He and Anna Westla were married in Vancouver, British Columbia, on June 2, 1954. Mr. Pel retired in 1993 from a precision wood products mill. He loved to travel and enjoyed living in Mexico. His last words to his wife just before he passed away were, "I am ready to meet the Lord Jesus." Mr. Pel was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Pel of the home; two sons, Roy Amse Pel of Grand Haven, Michigan, and Mark David Pel of Robbinsdale, Minnesota; two daughters, Glenda Jayne Tina McCarty and Annette H. Noye of Vancouver, Washington; a brother, Piet Pel of Stroobos; three sisters, Zus deJong of Papendrecht, Netherlands, Hilly Pel of Utrecht, Netherlands, and Annbke Ottens of Surrey, British Columbia; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Pel was preceded in death by his parents.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
