Graveside services for Homer Wilson O'Haver will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Norman IOOF Cemetery with Rev. Sherman Fitzgerald officiating.
Mr. O'Haver was born November 8, 1918, at Norman, one of 13 children, and died April 10, 1995.
He was educated in Norman and worked on his grandfather's dairy farm and with his father as teaming contractor. Mr. O'Haver then was employed in the oilfields and later served in the military during World War II. He was with the Army Corps of Engineers, serving in the Philippines and New Guinea. Mr. O'Haver was awarded the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. After his discharge from the service, he resumed an oilfield career, designing and patenting oilfield tools. Mr. O'Haver was also an auctioneer and raised many outstanding quarter horses, including the 1990 Champion Age Oklahoma Bred running mare Thanks Darlin. He married Velma Mason on February 28, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Velma O'Haver of the home; a daughter, Carolyn McAlister of Lumberton, Texas; two sons, William H. (Bill) O'Haver of Marietta and Dale L. O'Haver of Goliad, Texas; a brother, Malcolm P. O'Haver of Poteau; two sisters, Colleen O'Haver Blanton of Poteau and Helen Hohenberger of Lafayette, Louisiana; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service, Norman.
