Services for Herbert Melvin Neimeyer, 72, of Falconhead, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 31, at Marietta's First Baptist Church with Rev. David Colaw and Rev. Jim Lively officiating.
Mr. Neimeyer was born April 15, 1930, the son of William and Lydia Johanna Dahse Neimeyer. He died Monday, January 27, 2003, in Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, North Carolina.
He had been a resident of the Falconhead Community since 1992. He and Pamela Freeman were married on August 31, 1984 at Brownsville, Texas. He graduated from Holiday High School in Holiday, Texas in 1947. Mr. Neimeyer worked in the oil fields, was a service manager for J.C. Penney Company for eight years and retired in 1994 from TLMRC in Haslet, Texas where he was a maintenance supervisor for 13 years. He was currently driving for Lone Star Transportation of Gainesville. He enjoyed woodcrafts, riding horses and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Pam of the home; one son, William Patrick Neimeyer of Falconhead; five daughters, Kavin A. Vickery of Houston, Joyce Hutzler of Castroville, Texas, Kathy Cowey of Seguin, Texas, Tanga Smith of Thackerville, and Tammy Mitchell of Falconhead; three brothers, Glen Neimeyer of Houston, Floyd James Neimeyer of Ashdown, Arkansas and Billy Neimeyer of Wichita Falls; three sisters, Dorothy Jones of Arizona, Gladys Neece of Dallas and Verdell Loudamy of Arlington; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Neimeyer was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Kerry Karl Neimeyer in 1983 and Mark Anthony Melton in 1998; a brother, Ed Neimeyer; and a grandson in 1979.
Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Hicks, Richard Whitten III, Jim Barnett, Kye Hennington, Joe Wilder and Josh Neimeyer. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Joe Reynolds and Donny Owens.
Interment will be in the Rubottom Cemetery, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
