Graveside services for former Leon resident Vester Mapp will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, Fort Worth, Texas.
Born December 27, 1912, at Leon, Mr. Mapp died February 6, 1995, in Lake Lodge Nursing Home, Fort Worth. He was the son of Rev. Wade Hamp and Nora Mapp.
Mr. Mapp retired from General Dynamics in Fort Worth in 1973, and he returned to Leon to make his home for a number of years. A Southern Baptist, he attended the Leon Baptist Church. Mr. Mapp and the former Elma Coble were married August 23, 1935, at Lawton.
Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Roxie Mapp of Fort Worth; two granddaughters, Melinda Mapp of Houston, Texas, and Merry Mapp of Fort Worth; and a sister, Lenora Fries of Clovis, California.
Mr. Mapp was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Elma Coble Mapp; a son, Eddie Mapp; and a daughter, Edwynna Mapp.
