Graveside services for Jack B. McIver, 70, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, March 13, in the Keel Cemetery, Lebanon, with Bro. Cole Tidwell
officiating.
Mr. McIver was born April 19, 1931, near Meadow, Texas, the son of Gerald and
Margaret Eldredge McIver. He died Saturday, March 9, 2002, in Mercy Memorial
Health Center, Ardmore.
Raised in Tishomingo, Mr. McIver had made his home in Marietta since 1975. He
and India L. Pratt were married November 1, 1958, in Madill, and she preceded
him in death on January 17, 2002. A 1950 graduate of Tishomingo High School,
Mr. McIver also graduated from Murray State College with an associate degree.
As a resident of Durant, he was a Court Reporter from 1964 to 1975. The family
then moved to Marietta where he and Mrs. McIver owned and operated the Love
County Abstract Company from 1975 until 1996. Mr. McIver also served in the
U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion and the Southern Circle
Square Dance Club in Ardmore and a past member of the Marietta Lions Club. Mr.
McIver was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his mother-in-law, Hattie Pratt of Lebanon; two sons and
daughters-in-law, David and Ann McIver of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Roger and
Liz McIver of Durant; three daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and David Bennett
of Grand Junction, Colorado, Vaness McIver of St. Louis, Missouri and Ann
McIver of Marietta; four brothers, Van McIver of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Pat
McIver of San Diego, Mike McIver of Antlers, and Bill McIver of Orangeburg,
South Carolina; three sisters, Claire Svec of Shawnee, Gaynelle Fabiszewski of
Waco, Texas, and Loutrelle Williams of Antlers; and two grandchildren, Stefan
and Kevin.
Mr. McIver was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Geraldine
Cheatham; and a brother, O.S. McIver.
Honorary pallbearers were Ron Jacobs, Charles Coffey, members of the Southern
Circle Square Dance Club, members of the Yellow Rockers Square Dance Club, and
members of the Pauls Valley Stars Square Dance Club.
Services were under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
