Services for Everett Walter Lake, 83, of Ardmore, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 30, in the Griffin Funeral Home Chapel, Ardmore, with Lawrence Hallum and Sam Rothe officiating.
Mr. Lake was born May 17, 1919, at the family farm at Selman, the son of Williard Wesley and Virginia May Young Lake. He died January 26, 2003, at an Ardmore health care facility.
Mr. Lake graduated from high school in Buffalo. He and Jewelle Edna Love were married June 2, 1940. They made their home in Harper County until 1972. Farming and ranching interests brought them to Southern Oklahoma where they became members of the Valley Christian Church in Pauls Valley. They later moved to Ardmore and attended Memorial Christian Church. A special ministry of Mr. and Mrs. Lake was providing clothing for needy people to missions in Oklahoma, Texas and Tennessee.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Walter Lake of Marietta, Wayne and Frances Lake and Kenneth and Jane Lake of Ardmore and John V. and LeeAnn Cox of Sapulpa; grandchildren, Wallecia and Vic Gibson, Chad and Teresa Lake, Carey and Shawn Welden, Cody Lake, Jennifer and Shane Kinsworthy, Chelsea Lake, Kevin Lake, Matthew Cox and Justin Cox; and five great-grandchildren, Nicholas Gibson, Patrick Gibson, Kathryn Gibson, Brayden Lake and Riley Lake.
Mr. Lake was preceded in death by his wife, Jewelle Lake on December 19, 2002; a grandson, Casey Lake; his parents; two brothers and five sisters.
Pallbearers were nephews and grandsons.
Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home, Ardmore.
