Services for Purnie Jean Kirk, 67, of Bonham, Texas, were held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 12, in the Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel, Bonham, with the Rev. Lynn Holly officiating.
Mrs. Kirk was born June 26, 1937, in Detroit, Texas, the daughter of Richard Lee and Arlie Edna Woods Peek. She died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at her residence.
A homemaker, Mrs. Kirk attended Boyd Baptist Church. She and Harvey Daymond Kirk were married October 14, 1951, in Muleshoe, Texas, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Rickey Lee Kirk of Bonham, Michael Daymond Kirk of Denison, Texas, and Randy Wayne Kirk of Gunter, Texas; a daughter, Sharon Edna Sparks of Bonham; a brother, Tommy Joe Peek of Bonham; five sisters, Beulah Marie Fairchild and Mary Lee Jones of Bonham, Linda Rebecca Whitworth of Van Buren, Arkansas, Martha Sue Janzen of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Tamara Ann Peek of Dallas; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kirk was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Tommie Lynn Perry; and a daughter-in-law, Naomi Beatrice.
Pallbearers were Matt Kirk, Elizabeth Kirk, Sarah Milburn, J.D. Murrell, Billy (Deano) Yandell and Angel Kirk. Honorary pallbearers were Mary Dell Rudd, Tanya Marie Murrell, Edwin Kirk, Andra Worley, Suebeth Smith and Heather Kirk.
Interment was in Leon Cemetery, Leon, under the direction of Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home, Bonham.
This obituary included a small photo of Mrs. Kirk.
