Graveside services for Gladys Irene Knapp, 92, of Marietta, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 17, in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, with the Rev. James Watson officiating.
Mrs. Knapp was born September 11, 1910, at Leon, the daughter of John Robert and Lillie Hearron Campbell. She died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore.
She had lived most of her life in Courtney and Duncan. A 1929 graduate of Zaneis High School, Mrs. Knapp received a bachelor's degree from Southeastern State College, Durant. She taught school at Courtney and Duncan, retiring after 38 years. Mrs. Knapp was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ardmore. She and her husband spent much of their time assisting elderly individuals in the church congregation.
Survivors include a son, Roy Knapp of Comanche; two daughters, Georgia Anne Ward of Wylie, Texas, and Dorothy Hames of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Elva Kerley and Margaret Stewart, both of Marietta; two special sisters by marriage, Juanita Nicodemus of Ardmore and Rozelle Campbell of Marietta; eight grandchildren, Karen Sanders, Mark Ward, Paula Feld, Daryl Knapp, Cheryl Deaton, Dickie Hames, Randy Hames and Ronnie Hames; 18 great-grand-children and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mrs. Knapp was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clark Lowe in June 1940; second husband, Victor Knapp on July 14, 1989; three brothers, Jim Campbell, Larkin Campbell and Bob Campbell; and two sisters, Jo Walker and Mary Lou Campbell.
Serivces were under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
