Graveside services for Robert Paul Johnson, 41, of Rubottom, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 28, in the Rubottom Cemetery, with the Rev. Jimmy May officiating.
Mr. Johnson was born August 13, 1961, at Wilson, the son of Marvin H. and Olene Swint Johnson. He died Monday, March 24, 2003, at Mercy Health-Love County Hospital, Marietta.
A resident of Love County most of his life, Mr. Johnson had made his home in Nebraska for the past three years, where he had been working as a farm/ranch hand in a feedlot. He had just recently returned to this area to make his home. Mr. Johnson had previously worked as an oil field roughneck in addition to working for local farmers and ranchers. He attended the Rubottom Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Olene Johnson of the home; two brothers, Billy Johnson of Zaneis and Jerry Johnson of Rubottom; five sisters, Janice Pierce of Marietta, Tanya Manning, LaRhonda Johnson and Rochelle Richards of Leon, and Kim Burke of Wilson; numerous nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his father on June 25, 1986; three nephews and a great-niece.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Mobley, Brian Thompson, Jonathan Boatner, Timmy Arthur, Jimmy "Bodie" Gilbert and Spike Metcalf. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Blankenship and Richard Pierce.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 27, at the funeral home.
Services are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
