Services for Marine Jacobs, 84, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, at the Marietta Church of Christ, with Bro. Travis Huffman officiating. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta. Arrangements were directed by Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
Born July 6, 1920, at DeQueen, Arkansas, the daughter of Charles William and Myrtle Lou Smith Spence, she died Sunday, March 27, 2005, in Mercy Health/Love County Hospital, Marietta.
A resident of Love County most of her life, Mrs. Jacobs was a homemaker. She and Harold Jacobs were married March 14, 1936, and he preceded her in death May 24, 1984. Mrs. Jacobs retired from Safeway grocery store as a checker, and also worked as a home care provider. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing and cooking and was a member of the Marietta Church of Christ.
Survivors include six grandchildren, Gina Lynn Jacobs and Krista Jacobs of Tishomingo, Lyndon Gene Jacobs Jr. of Denver, Jeff Jacobs of Ardmore, and Joshua Jacobs and Jamie Jacobs of Lewisville, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Stevie, Jace and Jack; two daughters-in-law, Lorry Jacobs of Fallon, Nevada and Mary Jacobs Wood of Tishomingo; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Lyndon Gene Jacobs and Larry Thomas Jacobs; four brothers, Don Spence, Tom Spence, Charlie Spence and Harold Spence; and a sister, Faye Shelton.
Pallbearers were Claude Brannan, Allen Woody, Ron Jacobs, Duane Hicks, Pete Jordan and Vance Parr. Honorary pallbearers were Clyde Rhoades, Tim Hicks and George Clifton.
