Services for Kenneth LaVoice Jones, 58, were Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, Ardmore. Officiating was Rev. Dewain Duck, pastor.
Mr. Jones, a resident of the Greenville community, died at his residence November 11, 1992. He had been in ill health for some time. Born October 5, 1934, at Lone Grove, Mr. Jones was the son of the late Harl and Talitha Austin Jones. He was a graduate of Lone Grove High School and had served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
The former pastor of the Tabernacle of Faith, San Antonio, Texas, Mr. Jones was also an evangelist for churches in the Assemblies of God. He had lived in Love County for nine years coming from San Antonio. He married Wanda Wilson Smith December 31, 1985, at Sherman, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Jones of the home; three step-children, Lisa Adams of Kingston, Sherri Holt of Lone Grove, and Joseph Smith, USAF, England; two brothers, Dale Jones of Ardmore and Roy Jones of Longview, Texas; three sisters, Minnie Marshall of Longview, Ginger Carney of Boston, Massachusetts, and LaVern Davis of Ardmore; and six grandchildren.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by two brothers, Valter Louis and Carl Issac; and a sister, Nora McCullough.
Interment was in the Lone Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home. Serving as bearers were Roy Jones, Tony Jones, Sean Davis, Dale Davis, Mike Leibrock, and Willie Miller. Honorary bearers included Tim Lee and Mel Pugh.
