Elmer "Texas" Idell

Services for Elmer "Texas" Idell were Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Burneyville Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Hill officiating.
Born July 30, 1908, at Fargo, Mr. Idell died August 6, 1992, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta, at the age of 84. He was the son of Henry D. and Cora Brockwell Idell.
A retired farmer, Mr. Idell had lived in the Burneyville area since 1918. He served on the Burneyville School Board from 1936-1949, as crop recorder and community committeeman for the Love County A.S.C.S. for 25 years, and was director of the Burneyville Cemetery Association for 20 years. Mr. Idell was a member of the Burneyville Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Cecil Idell of Burneyville; a sister, Frankie Bone of Burneyville; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Idell was preceded in death by five brothers, Luther Idell, Mark Idell, Albert Idell, Virgil Idell, and Homer Idell; and three sisters, Mae Idell, Bessie Thompson, and Gracie Shinn.
Interment was in the Burneyville Cemetery under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home. Nephews were pallbearers, and honorary bearers were Rip Sharp, Ott Ladner, Bill Looney, Andy Fitts, Charlie Barrick, and Paul Townsend.
