Services for Herbert H. Hartman, 75, of Leon, were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 18, at Marietta's First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dwight Hawkins and Bro. Jim May officiating.
Mr. Hartman was born September 11, 1928, at Leon, the son of Simon and Alida Boswell Hartman. He died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at Mercy Health/Love County Hospital, Marietta.
A lifelong resident of Leon, Mr. Hartman was a retired farmer/rancher and also owned and operated Goes Perforating & Logging from 1966 until 1983. He attended Leon School and was active in the Leon community. Mr. Hartman loved gardening, horseracing, politics and baseball. He was a loving husband, dad and papa. His community, family and friends were the joy of his life. Mr. Hartman was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Coleta Hartman of the home; a son, Dustin Hartman of Leon; four daughters, LaDonna Miller, Donna Stinson and Cathy Hodge, all of Ardmore, and Karen Flowers of Lone Grove; a sister-in-law and husband, Shelby and Mose Love of Ardmore; eight grandchildren, Kyla and Neil Brown, Cassidy Hartman, Rodney Hartman, Mike Flowers, Kara Carrol, Tracy Holybee and April Wood; four great-grand- children; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hartman was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ricky Don Hartman on May 19, 1997; three sisters, Elsie Taliaferro, Wilma Horne and Norva Jean McDaniel; and three brothers, Bill, Brug and Sam Hartman.
Pallbearers were Neil Brown, Mike Flowers, Tracy Holybee, Rodney Hartman, Dustin Hartman and Jimmy Householder. Honorary pallbearers were Donal Ray Hartman, Houston Love, Larry Graham, Tom Brown, Don Musser, Bowie Carlile, Glenis Hartman, Larry Hicks, Mike Parker, Mackie Frazier, and other friends and family members.
Interment was in Leon Cemetery, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
