Anita Owens Howard

Graveside rites for Anita Owens Howard, 57, lifelong Marietta resident, were held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 14, in McAlister Cemetery, south of Ardmore, with Charlie Whitt officiating.
Mrs. Howard was born August 21, 1943, at Marietta, the daughter of John Frankling and Wanda Juanita (Mitchell) Owens. She died Sunday, November 12, 2000, at her home in Marietta.
Raised at Marietta where she attended school, Mrs. Howard was employed by Lake Murray Lodge. She and Calvin Ray Howard were married in January 1962, in Marietta. He preceded her in death February 14, 1997.
Survivors include her husband, Don Arnold of the home in Marietta; three sons and daughters-in-law, David Howard of the home in Marietta, Ralph and Valorie Howard of Wilson, and Aurthur and Regina Hughes of Shawnee; three sisters, Joyce Stephens of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Marilyn Daniel of Springdale, Arkansas; and Mary Jo Lehman of Lone Grove; four granddaughters, Stacie Howard of Wilson, Samantha Howard of Purcell, Jamie Howard of Purcell and Donnell Hughes of Shawnee; and two grandsons, Aurthur Hughes, Jr. and William Hughes, both of Shawnee.
Mrs. Howard was also preceded in death by one son, Gary Don Howard on May 29, 1999; her father, Frank Owens on September 7, 1970; and her mother, Wanda Juanita Owens on February 25, 1989.
Pallbearers were Rick Brannan, Gene Swint, Tony Swint, Johnny Swint, Bill Stephens and Jim Daniel.
Services were under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson.
