Services for Billie L. "Cox" Griffin, 75, of Overbrook, were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 16, in the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel, Wilson, with the Rev. Dennis Holcomb, the Rev. Bob Cox officiating, and a personal touch by her husband, Frank Griffin.
Mrs. Griffin was born October 19, 1926, at Oswalt, the daughter of J.A. "Bill" and Eula Maude Carlyle Cox. She died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, in Ardmore.
She grew up at Oswalt and was married to Frank Griffin on March 24, 1941, at Wilson. They lived in the area prior to moving to Oregon in 1965. The couple moved back several times to Oklahoma but came back the final time in 1982 to Oswalt.
Survivors include her husband, Frank of the home in Oswalt; three daughters, Barbara Ellison of Healdton, Janie Pollard of Medford, Oregon, and Diana Holcomb of Prospect, Oregon; three sons, Mark and Keith Griffin, both of Trail, Oregon, and Billy Griffin of Butte Falls, Oregon; three sisters, Faye McComber of Ardmore, Sue Chambers of Ardmore and JoAnn Hyder of Wilson; four brothers, Bob and Jack Cox, both of Ardmore, Dean Cox of Lone Grove and Jim Cox of Plano, Texas; 20 grandchildren and an adopted granddaughter, Kimberly Murray of Overbrook; 37 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Jerry and David; two grandsons, Shawn Pollard and Jimmy Don Griffin; two sisters, Aleta Gray and Juanita Dane; and three brothers, W.G. "Hap" Cox, Delbert L. Cox, and C.A. "Punch" Cox.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Jerry Ellison, Christopher Holland, John Mayes, Kevin Murray, Larry Griffin and Jason Griffin. Honorary bearers were her brothers, Bob, Jack, Dean and Jim.
Interment was in Oswalt Cemetery, under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson.
