Services for Allen Wayne Gipson, 69, of Mustang, were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 2, in Turner School's Freeman Auditorium, Burneyville, with the Rev. John Sconce officiating.
Mr. Gipson was born September 16, 1933, at Burneyville, the son of Floyd M. and Vera E. Chambers Gipson. He died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, in Deaconess Hospital, Oklahoma City.
A resident of Mustang for the past 31 years, Mr. Gipson was the founder and president of Gipson Trim Supply, an auto interior supply company he established in 1966. He and Alice C. Reed were married in Gainesville, Texas, in 1953, and she preceded him in death on August 6, 1998. He then married Geraldine Burkey in Chickasha on December 16, 1999. A 1951 graduate of Leon High School, Mr. Gipson attended the Wheatland Baptist Church in Wheatland.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Gipson of the home; his mother, Vera E. Gipson Elkins of Marietta; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Garland and Cindy Gipson and Ray Gipson of Oklahoma City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherlene and Gene Robertson and Christi and Clark Rose of Mustang; two stepsons and daughters-in-law, Herschel and Linda Martin of Guthrie and Blaine and Kathy D. Martin of Oklahoma City; a stepdaugher, Cathy Ostrander of Oklahoma City; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon Faye and Joe Hartless of Marietta and Willie Dean and Alvie Reed of Leon; five grandchildren, Regena and Scott, Renee, Shawn, Krystal and Catie; seven step-grandchildren, Katelyn, Shannon and Jamie, Glenn, Tiffany, Bond and Colleen, Rick and Melinda; five step-great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Lindsay, Austin, John and Haleigh; and was expecting his first great-grandson August 7, 2003.
Mr. Gipson was also preceded in death by his father on July 19, 1960; and a brother, Floyd M. Gipson Jr. on January 14, 2000.
Pallbearers were his nephews, Curtis Gipson, Keith Gipson, Mike Gipson, Chris Hartless, Steve Isom and Charles Campbell. Honorary pallbearers were Ott Ladner, Archelowe Terrill, Don Reed, Cliff Reed, Ronnie Reed, John Reed, Duane Hicks, Auston Reed, Eddie Campbell, Joe Hartless, Alvie Reed, Dean Whilhoite and customers of Gipson's Trim Supply.
Interment was in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
