Raymond Wilson Furrh

Services for Raymond Wilson Furrh, 82, of Rubottom, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Rubottom Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jack Pryor officiating and Don Duke reading the eulogy.
Mr. Furrh was born November 6, 1918, at Courtney, the son of Fred Sampson & Ethel L. White Furrh. He died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at his residence at Rubottom.
A resident of Love County his entire life, he was a farmer who raised peanuts. Mr. Furrh was a member of the Rubottom Baptist Church. His hobbies included fishing and playing dominoes.
Mr. Furrh was also a member of the Lone Grove Masonic Lodge. He was recently awarded a 50-year pin and a certificate that read as follows:
"The Grand Lodge of Oklahoma
Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons
Guthrie, Oklahoma
In recognition of faithful Masonic service
for a period of fifty years this
FIFTY YEAR AWARD
is presented by this lodge to
RAYMOND WILSON FURRH
with the gratitude, congratulations and best wishes
of the officers and members. Their hope is
that our fraternal bonds may strengthen
with each passing day.
Entered Apprentice August 29, 1949
Fellow Craft February 27, 1950
Master Mason August 21, 1950"
Survivors include the mother of his children, Hazel M. Hyman of Rubottom; three sons, Richard Furrh of Ardmore, Teddy Furrh of Rubottom, and Pat Furrh of Grand Prairie, Texas; a daughter, Peggy Ellis of Grand Prairie; an aunt, Verna Wooldridge of Ardmore; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Furrh was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Pike Wesley Furrh.
Pallbearers were Larry Norton, Bobby Bishop, James Glen, Don Duke, Rodney Parker and Karol Ray Walls. Honorary pallbearers were the Masonic Lodge members.
Masonic graveside rites were held at the Rubottom Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
