Services for Norman C. Flanagan, 76, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 7, at the Church of Christ, Marietta, with Bro. Weldon Flanagan and Bro. Travis Huffman officiating.
Mr. Flanagan was born June 5, 1928, in Love County, the son of Seymour and Jewel Jacobs Flanagan. He died Saturday, September 4, 2004, at his Marietta residence.
He had been a resident of Love County most of his life. He and Martha Scott were married June 16, 1951, at Thackerville. A 1947 graduate of Marietta High School, Mr. Flanagan received a bachelor of science degree from Abilene Christian University in 1954. He had worked in hospitals in Abilene, Dallas and Gainesville, Texas, before moving back to Love County. Mr. Flanagan retired from the Arthritis Clinic in Ardmore, after 32 years serving as Laboratory Director. He had been a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists for over 50 years. In addition, Mr. Flanagan served on the Marietta School Board from 1967 to 1978, and was an active member of the Marietta Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Flanagan of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Teri Flanagan of Marietta; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and David Roberts of Tulsa; and three grandchildren, Ashley Roberts, Khriston Flanagan and Ryan Flanagan.
Mr. Flanagan was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Kenneth Gordon.
Pallbearers were Bob Colston, Ron Jacobs, Bob Scott, Danny Frazier, Eric Henderson and Ryan Flanagan.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
