Services for Martha Pate Durie, 73, of the Falconhead community, were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 21, in the Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, with Glen Pool officiating.
Mrs. Durie was born December 29, 1928, in Hobart, the daughter of Herbert James and Mary Gardner Pate. She died Wednesday, December 18, 2002, in Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore, after a long illness.
Her family moved to Madill in October, 1929, when her father became the owner-publisher of The Madill Record. Mrs. Durie graduated from Madill High School with the class of 1947 and attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, and Hill's Business College in Oklahoma City. She and Charles Durie of Ardmore were married September 14, 1957, and the couple made their home in Oklahoma City until retiring to the Falconhead Resort in 1994.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Durie of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Vicki Durie of Allen, Texas, and John and Gayle Durie of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Mary Durie of Dallas; and seven grandchildren, Brittany, Amanda, Garrett and Troy Durie of Allen, and John, Laura and Will Durie of Houston; and a brother, Jim Pate, of Addison, Texas.
Mrs. Durie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Herbert Gardner Pate.
Pallbearers were Jim Durie, John Durie, Mike Pate, Bill Pate, Jack Pate and Armando Gallardo.
Interment was in the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery, Madill, under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill.
