Services for Wilburn P. Chapman, 79, were Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Pentecostal Holiness Church, Marietta. Officiating was Rev. Dwight Hawkins.
Mr. Chapman was born January 22, 1914, at Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and died September 11, 1993, in the VA Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He was the son of James and Rosie Walker Chapman.
Mr. Chapman had made his home in Gilmer, Texas, before moving to Gainesville six years ago. He married Nova Ellen White April 27, 1947, in Bakersfield, California. A retired construction worker, Mr. Chapman was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army over 14 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by two sons, James P. Chapman of Olive Branch, Mississippi and Michael W. Chapman of Wichita, Kansas; eight daughters, Diane Gilbert and Darliene Weisbeck of Gainesville, Karen Stofel, Francis Flatt and Illeen O’Haver of Marietta, Kolleen Flatt of Burneyville, Bobbie Evans of Gilmer, and Betty Carter of Sunnyvale, California; a sister, Mrs. Laura Loving of Gilmer; two brothers, Austin Sizemore of Hurst, Texas, and Jim Sizemore of Needles, California; 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by his wife on June 27, 1987; and two brothers, Raymond and Eugene Sizemore.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home with interment in Lakeview Cemetery. Grandsons served as casket bearers.
