Services for Ronnie Gene Copeland, 67, of Marietta, were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 4, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta, with Steven Morehead officiating.
Mr. Copeland was born July 28, 1935, in Ardmore, the son of James "Jim" and Neva Carter Copeland. He died Wednesday, January 1, 2003, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta.
He had been a resident of Marietta since 1975. A graduate of Plainview High School, Mr. Copeland had been a truck driver his entire life. He and Barbara Kay Carmon were married July 15, 1975, in Gainesville, Texas. Mr. Copeland was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Kay Copeland of the home; a son, James Chase "Jay" Copeland of Knoxville, Tennessee; two daughters, Tifani Dian Copeland of the home, and Vicki Meadows of Knoxville; two sisters, Jimmie Lou Laningham of Ardmore and Nancy Moran of Denton, Texas; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Copeland was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Billy Paul Copeland; and three sisters, Inita Reed, Mary Ann Loree and Lena Higginbotham.
Pallbearers were Sammy Ray Duggins, Michael Higgin-botham, Lonnie Reed, Jimmy Weems, Richard "Deuce" Davis and Bobby Brown. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. J.T. O'Connor, Larry Ellis, Elwood Maxwell, Kathryn Miller, Tammy Heath, Melynda Persons and Marie Ross.
Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
