Services for Ocie Lee Claxton, 84, of Ardmore, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta, with the Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating.
Mr. Claxton was born June 3, 1917, in Marietta, the son of Odie Lee and Elue Lanford Claxton. He died Sunday, March 10, 2002, in Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore.
He had made his home in Love County for many years before moving to the Ardmore area 25 years ago. Mr. Claxton retired from the State of Oklahoma Parks & Recreation Service after working at Lake Murray State Park for 35 years. A charter member of Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta, Mr. Claxton was also a member of the Oddfellows and the National Paint Horse Association. He was a former member of the Ardmore Moose Lodge.
Survivors include a son, Ken Claxton of Thackerville; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jim Wood of Ardmore; a sister, Girtrue Wolfe of Marietta; three grandchildren, Lonetta Short, Shannon Lee Claxton and Scott Wood; four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Claxton was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Dixie Claxton; a sister, Myrtle; and a brother, Kenneth Claxton.
Pallbearers were Nelson "Dude" Powell, Gene Robertson, Ron Westfall, Randy Hart, Wes Hickman and Jerry Walling.
Honorary pallbearers were Roscoe Pulliam, Roy Porter, Bob Parsons, J.W. Hart, Ron Porter and Bill Dvorak.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
