Services for Maxine Culwell, 75, of Burneyville, were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 2, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta, with pastor Ruby Franks officiating.
Mrs. Culwell was born January 13, 1927, in Ironton, Texas, the daughter of James Thomas and Bertie Bell Johnson Kinney. She died Monday, December 30, 2002, in Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore.
A homemaker, Mrs. Culwell had been a resident of Love County for 33 years. She and Carl C. "Son" Culwell were married in October 1977 in Marietta. Mrs. Culwell was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Carl C. "Son" Culwell of the home; three sons, Thomas R. Hays of Marietta, Johnny B. Work of Jacksonville, Texas, and Ricky L. Work of Mineral Wells, Texas; three daughters, Lucille Sliter of Marietta, Carolyn S. Whiteley of Jacksonville and Crissina D. Rossi of Lebanon; a sister, Estelle Oden of Jacksonsville; 16 grand- children; 12 great-grandchildren; eight nephews and 11 nieces.
Mrs. Culwell was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, John B. Work and T.W. Hays; and two sons, Lonnie T. Work and Mickey G. Work.
Serving as pallbearers were Homer Carmon, Jerry Vick, Tony Pounds, Billy Osburn, Don Butler and Ronnie Little.
Interment was in the Burneyville Cemetery, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
