Services for Mary C. Claxton, 76, were Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Eastside Baptist Church with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating.
The daughter of the late William and Floy Brewer Roche, she was born January 8, 1923, at Ringling and died May 19, 1999, in an Ardmore hospital following an extended illness.
Mrs. Claxton was reared in the Ringling area and attended Cornish and Center Point School. She moved to Marietta where she raised her family and worked for many years as a waitress. She was a charter member of the Eastside Baptist Church and a member of the Women of the Moose.
Mrs. Claxton moved to Ardmore in 1989 and had lived at Ardmore Village. She enjoyed dancing and lived life to the fullest. Mrs. Claxton was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ardmore.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth Claxton of Chickasha; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jim Wood of Ardmore; a granddaughter, Lonetta Short of Gene Autry; two grandsons, Shannon Claxton and Scott Wood, both of Ardmore; and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Claxton was preceded in death by a daughter, Dixie.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery directed by Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
