Services for Dona Cox were Saturday at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, Ardmore, with the Rev. Dan Patman and Dr. R. Wade Paschal officiating.
Born February 26, 1954, at Madill, Mrs. Cox died April 10, 1996, following an auto accident.
She graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1976 with a degree in elementary education and received a master's degree in education in 1980. Mrs. Cox began teaching at Northwest Heights in Durant and also taught at Kingston. In 1981 she began teaching at Plainview Middle School, then at the Elementary School where she was currently teaching second grade. Mrs. Cox was a member of OEA, NEA, Plainview Association of Classroom Teachers and First United Methodist Church where she worked with the junior and senior high youth group. She and Donnell Cox were married December 11, 1979, in Ardmore.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Eric and Chad; and daughter, Emily, all of the home; a stepdaughter, Kelli Donahue of Lawton; her father and stepmother, Don and Ramona Duke of Madill; two sisters, Delinda Chatham of Ardmore and Denita Strube of Denison, Texas; and grandparents, Beulah Gorrell of Kingston, Orville Duke of Madill and Lon and Vina Marion of Ardmore.
Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her mother, Donnell Duke in 1981.
Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home. Bearers were Richard Furrh, Don Buck, Warren Sullivan, Terry Cox, Jerry Royal and Tom Riley.
