Services for Donald Coulter were Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Thackerville School Auditorium. Officiating was Rev. Tommy Higle and Mr. Murray McMurray.
Born March 14, 1938, in Overbrook, the sone of Elbert and Liddie Wadie Porter Coulter, Mr. Coulter died October 29, 1992, in an Ardmore hospital at the age of 54.
A resident of Thackerville most of his life, he worked for Lone Star Gas Company for 18 years and for the past 15 years was employed as a Service Technician for Sears. Mr. Coulter was a member of the American Legion and had served on the Thackerville School Board for 10 years as the Vice-President and on the Thackerville Rodeo Committee for the past 30 years. He married Modena Brown on May 22, 1959, in Gainesville, Texas. Mr. Coulter was a member of Marietta's First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Modena Coulter of the home at Thackerville; three sons and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sonsura Coulter of Gainesville, and Steven Coulter and Brian Coulter of the home; a brother, Jimmy Coulter; and two grandsons, Jeffery and Zachary Coulter of Gainesville.
Mr. Coulter was preceded in death by his father on September 2, 1971; his mother, April 23, 1992; and a sister, Louise Idell on September 4, 1989.
Services were under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home with interment in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jesse Kirk, Dean Pearman, Joe Young, Sam Ahtone, Wesley Smith, and Gene Washburn. Honorary bearers included Randy Thompson, Bobby Scott, Cliff Boatright, Tim King, Maze Parson, Jr., and James Dunham.
Donations may be made to the Don Coulter Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Thackerville School.
