Services for Chester Harold "Herb" Claypool, 87, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Craddock Memorial Chapel with Travis Huffman officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Born Sept. 27, 1914, in Prague to Sylvester Leander and Gertrude Elizabeth Martin Claypool, he died Sept. 1, 2002, at the local hospital.
Chester worked in the oilfields as a driller and pumper, living all over the states of Oklahoma and Texas including Duncan, Wilson, Marietta, Ardmore and Tyler, Texas. He was a member of the Marietta Church of Christ.
He and Winnie Mae Guy were married on July 12, 1934 in Chickasha. She preceded him in death on March 9, 1998. He and Oneda Miller Langley were married Oct. 27, 2001, at Lake Murray Chapel.
He is survived by his wife, Oneda, of the home in Ardmore; two sons, Harold D. Claypool and his wife, Dorma Lee of Ardmore, and Donald Lee Claypool and his wife, Jean, of Moore; a sister, Vida Brownen of Hot Springs, Ark. three stepchildren, Ronnie Miller of Ardmore, Sharon Williams of Bedford, Texas, and Dennis Miller of Yukon; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be George Clifton, John Thompson, Alvin Freeman, Monroe Thompson, Al Ridgeway and Rudolph McGehee.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
