Graveside services for Claud B. Cain, 83, were Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thackerville. Officiating was Mr. Murray McMurray.

Mr. Cain was born January 4, 1913, at Addington Bend and died Thursday, October 3, 1996, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta. He was the son of Samuel Richard and Margaret Ida Tabler Cain.

A resident of Love County all of his life, Mr. Cain married Velester Orr January 31, 1935, at Addington Bend. A retired rancher and farmer, he was a deputy sheriff in Love County for 21 years. Mr. Cain was a member of the Thackerville Community Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Velester Cain of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Rowena Cain of Marietta, Harold and Peggy Cain of Forestburg, Texas, and Darrell and Janie Cain of Thackerville; four daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia and Dean Pearman, Gerri and Delmar Shurbet and Terri and Jerry Bone of Thackerville, and Carol and Bill Shankles of Marietta; three brothers, Melvin Teafatiller of Antlers, Doug Teafatiller of Thackerville and Jack Teafatiller of Marietta; two sisters, Bertie McCannon and Ruth Hinton of Thackerville; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cain was preceded in death by three grandsons, Bobby Pearman in 1980 and two infant grandsons; a sister, Nina McCage; and two brothers, Clarence Cain and Clint Cain.

Services were under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, Bull Shurbet, Jason Bone, Cody Cain, Clay Shurbet, Jeff Bone, Wes Cain, Brian Hard, Clint Cain, Forrest Cain, Rod Shankles, Layton Shurbet, Brandy Hicks and Dean Schaffer.
