Services for William Edward Brown, 63, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 29, at Marietta's First Baptist Church, with Rev. Tommy Higle officiating and the eulogy given by Travis Huffman.
Mr. Brown was born January 1, 1941, in Leon, the son of Earl Lee and Edna Lucille Brintle Brown. He died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore.
Mr. Brown had been a resident of Love County all of his life. He and Rosemary Hughes were married May 25, 1962, in Marietta. He was employed as a mold changer at Uniroyal Goodrich Tire Plant in Ardmore, before retiring in 1990 after 20 years of employment. He enjoyed going to flea markets, playing dominoes, and bowling, but most of all, Mr. Brown enjoyed being with people...he was truly a people person. He was a member of Marietta's First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Brown of the home; one son, Sheldon E. Brown of Marietta; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula D. and Troy Davis of Marietta; four sisters, Sue Landrum of Pauls Valley, Barbara Byrd of Oklahoma City; Minnie Blodgett of Wilson and Sandra Culwell of Marietta; and five grandchildren, Trey Davis, Tyler Davis, Lauren Davis, Brittney Ella and Brandy Brown.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers were Ernest Morgan, Charlie Hughes, Eddie Sampson, Ray Elliott, Jack Brintle, and Joe Rowe. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Marchbanks, Red Hammons, Dr. Tom O'Connor, Bert Tickel, Sylvan Freeman, Leon Haas, Joe Martin, Von Dee Lemons, Allen Woody, Jack Langford, Bunch Burkhart and Bob Michael.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Lake Country Nursing Center, c/o Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, 100 East Main, Marietta, OK 73448.
