Services for Violet W. Batson, 90, were at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the First Christian Church of Marietta. Officiating was Dr. Gene Lamb.
Born August 24, 1906, at Enville, Indian Territory, the daughter of Ester and Dora Askew Wilson, Mrs. Batson died July 25, 1997, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta.
She had lived in Love County all of her life and married W.T. Batson January 18, 1928, in Marietta. Mrs. Batson was a homemaker and a charter member of the First Christian Church of Marietta. She loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William V. "Bill" and Dana Batson of Marietta; a daughter, Lawana Rhyne of Marietta; two brothers, Howard Wilson of Locust Grove and Melvin Wilson of Pryor; a sister, Hazel Cochran of Marietta; five grandchildren, Dana Carol McBroom, Cathy Spradling, Claud Rhyne, Stevie Chitwood and Penny McDonough; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Batson was preceded in death by her husband on June 5, 1974; a granddaughter, Patty G. Rhyne on October 29, 1986; a sister, Irene Billingsley and three brothers, Dale Wilson, David Wilson and Em Wilson.
Interment in Lakeview Cemetery was under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Curtis Cochran, Billy Bob Spradling, Bill Woford, Carl Cochran, Terry Mitchell and Richard Allen.
