Memorial services for Vernon F. Bone, 86, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 21, at Mountain View Mortuary, Colorado Springs.
Born May 28, 1918, in Burneyville, he died Saturday, April 16, 2005, in Colorado Springs.
A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, he served his country for more than 30 years. A retired Lt. Col. in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Bone has been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1960. He was a writer of doggerel poetry and an avid gardener, rock hound and reader.
Survivors include a daughter, Terry Bone of Colorado Springs; a son, George of Vallejo, California; a brother, Claude James of Marietta; and grandchildren, Seth Maggard of Colorado Springs, Brendan Bone and Kathryn Bone of Vallejo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, and his son, Dennis.
