Services for Rosa Florence Burge of Ardmore were conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was Rev. Donny Custar.
Born January 21, 1905, at Coalgate, Indian Territory, the daughter of George Washington and Callie Lawley Nichols, Mrs. Burge died July 9, 1999, at Elmbrook Nursing Home in Ardmore.
Mrs. Burge had lived in Marietta for 22 years before moving to Ardmore in August 1998. She married Edgar L. Burge on February 1, 1945, at Gainesville, Texas. Mrs. Burge was a homemaker and a member of the Eastside Baptist Church of Marietta.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Sue Baker of Ardmore; a daughter, Loietta Landrum, also of Ardmore; a sister, Irene Abernathy of Amarillo, Texas; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Burge was precededin death by her husband on January 31, 1984; a son, G.C. Baker in 1997; three daughters, Margaret Gwin in 1953, Marie Brown in 1987 and Juanita Wilson in 1995; a brother and two sisters.
Interment in Lakeview Cemetery was directed by Kennedy Funeral Home. Pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons, Johnny Wilson, Ernie Baker, Terry Sutterfield, Jim Burge, Jacky Baker and Gil Austin. Honorary bearer was David Baker.
