Services for Roy Dean Bailey, 66, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 15, in the Callison-Lough Funeral Chapel, Rogers, Arkansas.
Mr. Bailey was born March 25, 1936, in Gate, the son of Warren and Mary Bailey. He died Wednesday, February 12, 2003, at Baylor Hospital in Irving, Texas.
He graduated from Gate High School in 1954, where he excelled in many sports, particularly basketball. After graduation, Mr. Bailey joined the Army and spent time in Okinawa, Japan and Washington, D.C. where he was a radio operator for the National Security Agency. He and Bonnie Rizley were married February 20, 1961, in Rogers. After completing a four-year apprenticeship program at U.S. Steel in Gary, Indiana, Mr. Bailey became a trade machinist. His trade also took him to Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas and Boeing in Seattle, Washington, before he and Mrs. Bailey settled in Dallas, where he worked for many years at LTV. After retiring from LTV, Mr. Bailey moved to Marietta, close to Lake Murray.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Robert Mullarkey of Coppell, Texas; a brother, Lawrence Bailey of Liberal, Kansas; a sister, Carol Rizley of Wichita, Kansas; a grandson, Michael Mullarkey; and a granddaughter, Amanda Mullarkey; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; a sister, Irene Gray; and two brothers, Barney Bailey and Vernon Bailey.
Services were under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Home, Rogers, Arkansas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
