Services for Marian Lorine Balch, 82, were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 13, in the Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating.

Mrs. Balch was born October 5, 1919, in Agra, the daughter of Thomas Earl and Kathryne Louise Dohm Matthews. She died Sunday, June 9, 2002, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta.

She had been a resident of Love County since 1980, returning here from California. She raised her children in Caruthers, California, and then moved to Marietta to live following retirement. She and Marvin Louis Balch were married May 15, 1936, in Chandler. Mrs. Balch had worked in a nursing home in California, the Cookie Factory in Marietta for several years and at the time of her retirement was working as a Home Care Provider. She was a volunteer for the Marietta Nutrition Site and also served as a member of the Project Council. Her hobbies included fishing, quilting and gardening. She was a member of Marietta's Eastside Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and April Balch of Caruthers, Fayrond Balch, Jerry and Pat Balch, Terry Balch, and Danny Balch, all of Marietta; five daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Smith, Lexie and Bill Winn of Caruthers, Una and Bert Cornelious of Boron, California, Debra and Ron Bass of Riverdale, California, and Stella Newsom of Marietta; thirty-three grandchildren; forty-eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Balch was preceded in death by her husband on March 30, 1982; her parents; one daughter, Karen Batey; three brothers and two sisters.

Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, Shawn Newsom, Matthew Balch, Dusty Newsom, Stan Singh, Danny Balch, Jr. and Steve Singh. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Clark, Wayne Bond, Olen Bond, Rick Brannan, Gene Bond, Thurman Vinson, Claude Brannan and Jess Bond.

Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
