Services for Marie Butler, 81, of Roanoke, Texas, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 21, at Clement-Keel Funeral Home Chapel, Gainesville, Texas, with Pastor Gene Griffin of Roanoke First Baptist Church officiating.
Mrs. Butler was born July 11, 1919, at Thackerville, the daughter of J.D. and Mamie Brown Wiseman. She died Thursday, October 19, 2000, at her residence in Roanoke.
A member of Roanoke First Baptist Church, Mrs. Butler retired as a dental assistant. She was also a dorm mother at the old Cooke County Junior College in Gainesville.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Jane Butler of Oklahoma City; three daughters and sons-in-law, Charleen Bacon of Euless, Texas, Lou and John Nelson of Roanoke, and Judy and Glen Denny of Carrollton, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Mamie Wiseman; one son, William E. Butler; and one daughter, Penny Ventura.
Pallbearers were Jason Butler, Thomas Butler, Kyle Bacon, Rick Harris, Jerry Bacon and Rick Nelson. Honorary pallbearers were Dean Plank, Riley Stroud, Jim Farrell and Pete Jordan.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville, under the direction of Clement-Keel Funeral Home.
