Graveside services for Martha Blankenship of Rubottom were conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Rubottom Cemetery. Officiating was Rev. Jimmy May.
Born December 22, 1929, at Leon, the daughter of Alfred and Audrey Caruthers Washington, Mrs. Blankenship died October 29, 1999, in the Healdton Hospital at the age of 69.
A resident of Love County and Carter County most of her life, she married Billy Ray Blankenship on April 28, 1951, at Gainesville, Texas. Mrs. Blankenship retired after 18 years as an office manager for Dick Washington Plumbing in Ardmore. She was a member of Eastern Star and of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Ray Blankenship of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Julie Blankenship of Oklahoma City; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Blankenship of Rubottom; two brothers, James Washington and Noble Washington of California; three sisters, Fleeda Pitts of Bakersfield, California, Edith Jo Stephenson of Nipomo, California, and Jean Ellen Stimac of Crescent City, Texas; and three grandsons, Tommy Blankenship, Zachary Blankenship and Aaron Blankenship.
Mrs. Blankenship was preceded in death by a son, Dennis R. Blankenship on September 26, 1993; and a granddaughter, Karen L. Blankenship on May 18, 1991.
Services were directed by Kennedy Funeral Home. Assisting as pallbearers were Tommy Ray Blankenship, Bill Gipson, Warren Blankenship, Steven McConnell, Larry Gilcrease, Rodney Blankenship and Ron Thompson.
