Graveside services for Lillie M. Burkhart, 76, will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in Lakeview Cemetery with Rev. John Sconce officiating.
Born March 27, 1920, in the Shady Dale community, Mrs. Burkhart died January 22, 1997, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta. She was the daughter of John Earl and Ola Flanagan Freeman.
A resident of Love County all of her life, she married R.W. Burkhart on March 5, 1938, in Marietta. Mrs. Burkhart was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Marietta.
She is survived by her husband, R.W. Burkhart; three sons and daughters-in-law, Riley and Peggy Burkhart of Irving, Texas, Ira and Jo Burkhart of Marietta, and Harvey and Sharon Burkhart of Ardmore; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Jesse Kirk of Marietta; two brothers, Sylvan Freeman of Marietta and Max Freeman of Covina, California; two sisters, Gladys Spence of Skellytown, Texas, and Syble Norris of Marietta; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Burkhart was preceded in death by five brothers.
Services will be under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home with grandchildren assisting as pallbearers. Honorary bearers will be Home Health Care employees and Love County Health Center employees.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home.
The family has asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Kennedy Funeral Home.
