Services for Lillian May Black, 87, of Clute, Texas, were held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 9, at Emmanuel Baptist church, Ardmore, with the Rev. Jimmy Harness officiating.

Mrs. Black was born May 17, 1916, at Berwyn, the daughter of Jesse and Louisa Beeman Bow. She died Monday, January 5, 2004, in Village On The Creek, Clute.

She was a homemaker and a resident of the Oswalt/Meadowbrook communities for many years. She and Raymond M. Black were married November 30, 1941, in Reno, Nevada, and he preceded her in death on June 4, 1990. Mrs. Black had made her home in Ardmore for two years before moving to Clute 11 years ago. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Ardmore.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerald and Yolanda Black of El Paso, Texas, Richard and Gayla Black of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Randall and Wendy Black of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a daughter and son-in-law, LaFerne and Frank Kubin of Surfside Beach, Texas; three sisters, Violet Pekota of Plesanton, California, Mary Ross of Turlock, California, and Thelma Glover of Lakeport, California; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Black was also preceded in death by her parents; a great-granddaughter, Makalah Pena on January 29, 1994; two sisters, Oleta Ratliff and Laura Belle Bertholf; and a half-brother, Bill Bow.

Pallbearers were Larry Black, Kenny Black, Boyd Howell, Frank Kubin, Troy Black and Edgar Wallace. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren Larry Black, Kristi Dedek, Troy Black, David Dedek, Starlyn Losch, Dusty Black and Monica Ismay.

Interment was in Oswalt Cemetery in rural Love County, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
