Services for Lois M. Beard were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Clement-Keel Funeral Home Chapel, Gainesville, Texas. Officiating was Mr. Steve Lee of the Hillcrest Church of Christ.

Mrs. Beard was born August 2, 1915, in Lone Grove, the daughter of O.P. Sr. and Dovie Lowry Pierce, and died September 22, 1996, in the Renaissance Care Center, Gainesville, Texas.

Mrs. Beard married Arthur A. (Sambo) Beard October 2, 1933. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by two brothers, Otis Pierce of Walnut Bend, Texas, and Loyd Pierce of Gainesville; four sisters, Nancy Keith of Ardmore, Doney Cummings of Lucerne, California, Bertie Lee Bowen of Tehachapi, California, and Gladys Hott of Callisburg, Texas; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Beard was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur A. (Sambo) Beard; a son, Leo Beard; and a sister, Evelyn Holloway.

Arrangements were under the direction of Clement-Keel Funeral Home with interment in Era Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chad Ramsey, Jason Pierce, Arlus Pierce, Randy Pierce, Clint Pierce and Bill Harkins.
