A prayer service for Carolina "Bebee" Bersosa Benavides, 40, was held Thursday, August 19, at 7:00 p.m. in the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories in Abilene, Texas, followed by a funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 20, in St. Francis Catholic Church. Officiating was Rev. Juan Guerra.
Born in Abilene, Mrs. Benavides died in an Abilene hospital August 18. She married Richard Benavides October 9, 1981, in Abilene, and moved to Marietta 12 years ago. Mrs. Benavides was a teacher's assistant in the Marietta Schools, working with the English as a second language (E.S.L.) program. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Marietta, a mission church of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ardmore.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Benavides of Marietta; two sons, Jesse Acosta and Richard Lee Benavides, both of Marietta; a daughter, Amanda Benavides of Marietta; her mother, Luz Hernandez of Abilene; three brothers, Joe Hernandez, John Hernandez and Simon Hernandez, all of Abilene; two sisters, Candy Salazar of Houston, Texas, and Gloria Valdez of Abilene; a granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment ws in the Abilene City Cemetery directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Homes.
